      Hi,

In my first job there were serious cuts, and I volunteered to leave because they paid me to go. I’d been there 11 years and it was very good for me to move on. My girlfriend (now wife) had only just started, so we left together and moved to a different part of the country.

It’s always possible that the company I work for decides it doesn’t want to do what I do anymore. I think I’d be able to find something else in the same company, but I don’t think I’d want to, and would move on. I think I could get work nearby, or perhaps Cambridge, or move to the America/Canada so I’d be quite relaxed about it.

      I hope not.

I am reasonably confident in terms of my job security. I think (hope!) it would take a fairly drastic turn of events to jepordise my job – we will always need people to train the next generation of engineers!

It’s always possible. Cuts come about but you need to see them as an opportunity to try something else
