• Question: What do you think is the best thing about engineering? Do you think there should be more young engineers?

      Hi.
      I could either be serious and say the best thing about it is that it can find solutions to the problems in the world, like hunger, drought etc, global warming, or I can be honest, and say the best thing for me is that it’s fun. I love tinkering – just started trying to build a robot with eyes that follow you round the room, and recognises your face. No reason for it, but it sounded cool.

      As Rik says, the best thing about engineering is that it is fun! Even if this wasn’t my job, I’d still be playing with electronics and tinkering with stuff to entertain myself!

      And there should definitely be more young engineers! I think more than anything else, youth brings an energetic and enthusiastic outlook to engineering projects.
