• Question: What engineer from the past do you wish you could have known?

      Hi,
      Someone else asked a similar question – but I’ll give a different answer this time.
      Alan Turing. The atmosphere at Bletchly park when Alan and his team were inventing machines to solve the German codes in the second world war would have been incredible. The emotional highs and lows, and the intense thinking going on would beat anything I’ve been through. I doubt I could have followed half of what was going on, but what a ride it would have been.

      Brunel – he was never daunted by any challenge and made what seem impossible, possible.

      Nikola Tesla – who invented the foundation of much of what we use everyday. He was the pioneer of alternating current. as well as major advances in electric lighting, motors, electricity distribution.

      Unfortunately he died basically penniless without his genius being recognised by the world (until much later at least).
