      Hi
I’ve just changed my cause to “buy Raspberry Pi for schools and clubs” – because I think that can be a great way to understand what a computer really is and what it can do. Almost everybody does just fine with computers and tablets without learning how to program them – without really understanding what’s going on inside – but a few of us that love taking things apart and want to be in on the inner secrets of computers are going to end up taking the lid off the box and poking around inside.
The raspberry pi is a tiny computer, so small there is no lid to take off – you see everything there is to it, and when you work with it, nothing is hiding from you. Its the closest thing now to the machines I used to play on as a kid, and I think that getting them into the hands of people like you and your classmates might start you off on a career you will really enjoy, and that will benefit society.

I would like to do something along the same lines as Rik – but probably focusing more on physical systems – such as the banana drum machine: http://www.makeymakey.com/howto.php

I also want to be able to demonstrate how we can hook everyday objects up to the Internet to be able to monitor and control physical systems remotely – imagine never having to worry about turning the heating off or having your fridge notify you that you are out of milk!
